chosen to draw the winning entry from the raffle
barrel. The name was drawn, and as he read the
winner’s name, the look on Ralph’s face was
priceless. Ralph has pretty much seen it all through
the years, but I think this was a first. The winner of
the breast augmentation was a dude! Michael
Coates from Smithville Missouri was our lucky
winner. Ralph called Michael from the show, but
unfortunately got his voice mail. That may be due
to the fact Michael had a ton of buddies at the
show who started blowing up his phone as soon
as his name was announced. You can imagine
how some of the calls went! It turns out Michael
and his wife Pam both entered the contest, a pretty
smart move if you ask me. I spoke to Michael and
he assured he me he won’t be undergoing surgery, so in the end all is well.
Next the trophies for all the bikes competing in
the Wide Open Bike Show were awarded. With
over 180 bikes entered, judging had to have been
a huge feat. In the end, a ton of trophies were
awarded to a very deserving group of scooters.
The winners are listed in the following pages along
with feature articles on our 3 Best of Show winners.
Well, the 2014 show is now in the books, and
you folks made it awesome. We had a record
number of bikes, record attendance and we have
you to thank for it! We also have to take a minute to
thank our show sponsors A&B Carstar Collision
Centers, SMT Machining, Bad Dad, and Topshop.
We’d also like to thank Tony and American Bagger
for bringing you the inaugural Baddest Bagger in
Kansas City competition. As always, all of our advertisers, vendors, and exhibitors deserve our
gratitude. And last but by no means least ,we want
to thank YOU! I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. You have made Wide Open Motorcycle
Magazine what it is, and we will never forget that.
You hold us to high standards and we are happy
that you do. We feel fortunate to be in a position to
allow you to not only see the sweetest bikes
around but also to catch up with friends in the
dead of winter. We enjoy being able to allow you
the ability to not have to wait through a long cold
winter to enjoy all your sport has to offer. Again we
thank you,and we will see you all on the roads
soon. As you read this riding season is here!
