Summer Reading Assignment for Incoming 1st Graders Due the first Thursday of First Grade INCOMING 1ST GRADERS 1) Read for, at least, one hour every week. Students can read by themselves or read with their families. 2) Record your reading on the Reading Log provided by the district. 3) Fill out the Book Response Form (last page) for one book that you read. The following is a list of books and authors that are recommended by the Appoquinimink School District. It is based on a list compiled by Joan Kimball ◊, a New Hampshire Librarian. You do not have to read books from this list- feel free to choose any book your child likes to read. You can choose from both fiction and non-fiction titles. We recommend that you spend some time going to your local library to find them though you may want to purchase one or two that your child finds special.
