SJI NPCC Unit
The SJI NPCC Unit came into existence as the NCC ( Police ) SJI Unit , on 4th January , 1971 with two inspectors and 30 first year ( Sec . 2 ) cadets .
OIC :
The first OIC was Mr . Gan Chan Leong , who left in March 1972 . Mr . Adam Aid then took over as OIC . The present OIC , Mr . Tan Peng Hock , took over w . e . f . January , 1977 .
Cadet Inspectors :
The first SJI NPCC NCO and Cdt . Inspector is Mr . Woo Chi Yong , who assumed the rank of Cdt . Inspector in 1974 . Before 1974 , the Cdt . Inspectors were from NPCC Headquarters . Cdt . lnspectors attached to SJI NPCC Unit were also outstanding NCOs during their days in SJI . They are Mr . Mazli Hussain , Mr . Noel Cheah and Mr . Henry Kwek ( all from Catholic Junior College ).

Major successes : ( 1 ) GUARD-OF-HONOUR : at Youth Festival Parade 1974 , with RI . CHS and 14 PreU 1 Cdt . lnspectors .
They were dressed in police ceremonial uniform and carrying SLR ( self-loading rifles ) with bayonets . ( 2 ) ORGAN ISER of 1st SJI Combined Passing-out Parade 1974 with Mr . Tan Peng Hock ( then P / lnspector ), as the organising Chairman and Mr . Woo Chi Yong ( then Cdt . Inspector ), asthe Parade Commander .
( 3 ) NATIONAL DRILL CHAMPIONS ( BOYS ): In 1975 , by winning the Kwan Sai Kheong Shield . The winning Sec . 3 Squad was commanded by Noel Cheah ( then S / Sgt .) and trained by Mr . Woo Chi Yong . Last year ( 1976 ), the Sec . 3 Drill Competition Squad put up an impressive display at the P . A . ground but they just failed to take the Shield back to SJI , emerging National third .
( 4 ) NATIONAL DR I LL CHAMPIONS - 1977 - Our Sec . 2 squad led by S / Sgt . PangTze Meng recaptured the Kwan Sai Keong Shield .
( 5 ) NPCC QUIZ : For three successive years ( 1974 , 1975 and 1976 ), the SJI NPCC Quiz team finished second to RI in the City District Quiz Competition and therefore failed to qualify for the Grand Finals . In 1975 and 1976 the team lost by a replay question after both schools were dead-locked with equal points . In 1977 , we emerged City-District Champions , but at National level we had to be content with second place .
