Foggy Dew Fungi is a small , family-operated gourmet mushroom farm deep in the hills of Newcastle in Placer County , built on sustainable practices and strong community ties . Agriculture is in owner Brendan Linnane ’ s blood : His father , Paul Linnane , grew up on a farm in Ireland . Now the business is on the verge of expanding , and the Linnanes will see their dream grow beyond their original expectations .

Veterans Take to the Sea to Heal by Steve Martarano
Sacramento veterans such as Billy Condon and Pearli Van use ocean therapy to help deal with posttraumatic stress disorder issues through groups such as the Veteran Surf Alliance and Operation Surf . These organizations offer coaches and mentorships that help veterans learn to surf and be respected members of their communities . Photographer Steve Martarano drove down to the coast to watch the surfers in action .
