MEET OCEAN OBSESSED OLLIE! glow. I saw a glowing roly-poly, a glowing millipede, a glowing scorpion, a glowing possum, a glowing snail, glowing rocks – it was so cool! We tried to see a glowing platypus, but he was too shy to come out that night.

INCREDIBLE!

This is a picture of the Anderson shelter and victory garden model that I made. I used oven-bake clay to make the vegetables and sandbags and found some moss in the garden to cover the shelter.
This is incredible! It’ s the pumpkins for me!

Hi, Ollie! Please give us some fascinating facts about YOU!
I’ m 10 years old. I LOOOOVE the ocean and nature. I have fractured my left arm three times. I do home school. I LOVE sea creatures( especially hermit crabs) and also Eastern rosellas. My favourite colours are pink and purple. I live in Tasmania, Australia. One time a horse tried to eat my hand, and it felt like he was going to rip my hand off. My favourite books are‘ Wolf Girl’ and‘ Bunny vs Monkey’. I have two sisters – my older sister’ s name is Lilly, and she’ s 13, and I have a younger sister named Ella, who’ s seven. I have a dog named George, who is a moodle, and a cat named Sasha( or Puss), who is a tabby. My mum’ s uncle( Uncle Algie) was in World War 2, so I enjoyed the September issue of AQUILA.
AQUATIC AQUILANAUT ALERT!
WHOA! I’ m glad the horse didn’ t win! What are your hobbies?
I love fishing. I am learning to swim better so that I can get my scuba-diving certification – then I know that will be my favourite thing! I love reading, watching, eating, annoying Lilly, beachcombing, sleeping, stargazing, camping, bushwalking, bioluminescence hunting, and I want to learn how to sing!
What’ s life like in Tasmania? What’ s your favourite thing to do for fun?
Living in Tasmania is very amazing. We get to see the aurora, bioluminescence, and we have animals that you don’ t find anywhere else in the world – like the Tasmanian devil. I live next to Derwent River in Hobart and that’ s the only place in the whole world where you can find spotted handfish! Unfortunately, they’ re critically endangered. I also love hermit crabs. I love how they have different personalities, like how some are shy, and some are mean, and some are adventurous. The way that they eat and scurry around is so cute! It’ s so cool when they dig their hole in the sand against the glass of the tank for hibernation.

What’ s going on in that t picture there, with all the rosellas?
At the park, the rosellas would always try to steal our food and eat our craft activities, and they would poop on our table and activities! Then I had an idea – the next time I went there I brought some bird seed, and I sat there for about two hours trying to feed and distract them. They didn’ t trust me at first, but eventually they started to, then every time I went there, I would teach them tricks, and they eventually fully trusted me. Now when I walk in the park they will climb all over me, on my head, shoulders, legs. They’ re very cute up close. And I’ m starting to name them all. One time I was lying down on the ground at the park, and one got a bit too close to my head and put its foot in my mouth! It kind of tasted like grass. Another time a rosella was climbing up me while I was standing up, and it was using its beak to help it climb up me by biting on me and then pulling itself up, then it got up to my face and bit my lip and its beak got in my mouth!
First a hungry horse, now a bird beak in your mouth – you’ re very brave! What do you want to be when you grow up?
Well, in case you haven’ t guessed it yet – I want to be a marine biologist!
What are your favourite issues of AQUIL A? I’ m going to guess …. O-
My favourite subject is maths. I love going for excursions! Recently, we went on a nighttime‘ Glow Tour’ with Dr Lisa-Ann Gershwin( she is a marine scientist who studies
jellyfish and things that glow) and she gave us all a UV torch so we could find all these different types of things that
