Black Business Matters
Formed in 1984 , the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce ( SBCC ) focuses on bringing African American Small Business Professionals together for support , economic growth , referrals and networking . Now more than ever , the SBCC as a membership group are dedicated , high-energy business professionals working together to improve the economic , cultural , and civic well being of the Black and Sacramento community as a whole . One of the unique programs that has become a hallmark of the SBCC includes the Young Leadership Collaborative ( YLC ), which has graduated a cohort of students aged 16- 23 every year since 2008 . Pictured at top and bottom at right , are groups of students who completed the small business and entrepreneurship program , as well as one group that made a trip to Tanzania to complete a solar cooker project as part of the program . Additionally , the SBCC has partnered with several major sponsors in the Sacramento region like SMUD , to complete a network of Solar Trees , pictured at center right .
