THE POWER TO make a difference

At Bank of America , we help people accomplish the things that matter most to them .
Helping businesses grow the right way . Supporting today ’ s entrepreneurs and tomorrow ’ s innovators .
Standing by the ones who day in and day out are putting in the hard work to make things happen .
What would you like the power to do ? ® model ,” says Kyle Zimbelman , economic and business relations manager for El Dorado County . Zimbelman sees life science , mobility , tech and advanced manufacturing industries as key to the region ’ s economic diversity .
Many of those industries have found a home at the 900-acre El Dorado Hills Business Park , a project begun by Sammy Cemo , founder of Cemo Commercial . When he purchased the property in 1983 , Cemo envisioned the business park as an alternative to Silicon Valley as tech companies flocked to the region for the “ cheaper land and lifestyle .”
But due to various challenges , including the Williamson Act — a state law that protects farmland from overdevelopment — and strict zoning , which significantly limited the kinds of companies that could relocate there , Cemo says the project didn ’ t quite “ materialize the way we thought .”
But that doesn ’ t mean it hasn ’ t been successful . The park is home to more than 200 companies , including Blue Shield of California , one of the county ’ s largest employers . Plans are also underway to put undeveloped park property to use .
According to John Davey , chair of the Area Planning Advisory Committee , which provides feedback to the county on proposed development , 200 acres of the business park are earmarked for housing , which would begin to meet the need for what Davey calls attainable housing for the area ’ s workforce .
El Dorado Hills Town Center is another driving force in attracting business to the region . Developed by Tony Mansour in the 1990s , the town center is also owned and managed in part by Kevin Nagle , entrepreneur and part owner of the Sacramento Kings and Sacramento Republic FC .
“ The El Dorado Hills Town Center is a destination point ,” says Nagle . “ It is the downtown of El Dorado Hills . It is a place where soon people can live , where thousands are employed through various tenant businesses and where one can
