BASS LAKE PARK — A REGIONAL GEM
“
Bass Lake Regional Park , the first facility of its kind in the region , is our premier project ,” says Kevin Loewen , General Manager for the El Dorado Hills Community Services District ( EDHCSD ). “ In 2016 , we updated our master plan , with tremendous community input . Now , our Board of Directors , management and entire team work closely with the EDH Promise Foundation in the process of making this park what the community wants .”
EDHCSD , a local public agency , provides services including parks and recreation to El Dorado Hills residents . “ We take great pride in delivering superior service and feel proud to be recognized by the California Special Districts Association with the 2019 award for outstanding public outreach and advocacy ,” says Loewen .
Bass Lake Park ’ s 200-plus acres have been acquired from multiple parties , and the park will soon be shaped to serve residents and visitors , all while continuing to respect and protect the land ’ s history , wildlife and environment .
On the active west side of the park , visitors may find baseball diamonds , a synthetic soccer field , bocce courts , sand volleyball , playgrounds with elements for all ages , a dog park and more . The north and east sides of the lake will be for more passive , peaceful pursuits , such as trails for hiking , birdwatching , fishing and kayaking .
Also planned is a multipurpose room for small events , meetings , or fundraisers and an outdoor education facility where schools and the general public can learn about the natural environment , preservation and history , including that of the culture of local native peoples .
“ The goal is to provide great recreation but also to be the best steward of the land ,” says Loewen . “ Our plan is to not charge for admission , but to build this park with partners and make it available to anyone and everyone . We plan to make this multifaceted gem sparkle like no other .”
