2020
The New Sonora Courthouse will provide modern and secure court facilities for
the residents of Tuolumne County ; and features five courtrooms , courts clerk and administration space , family court services , lower level parking and 4.5-acres of site development . The Courthouse is located directly adjacent to a local bus terminal and connected to the recently completed County Jail .
Lionakis chose to stay true to Tuolumne County heritage by using granite from a local stone quarry and large murals of historic photos to pay homage to the County ’ s history .
As a result of Turner ’ s best-in-class safety measures , construction activities were not impacted during the COVID pandemic , and the project is scheduled to complete on-time .
The successful design and construction of the New Sonora Courthouse are in large part due to the coordination and project-first approach of the entire team , including the JCC , California State Fire Marshal , Tuolumne County Sheriff ’ s Office , and trade partners .
