Drive-In Events Fill the Void by Steve Martarano

Drive-in theaters gained popularity during the coronavirus summer of 2020 , prompting many families in the Capital Region to turn their vehicles into personal entertainment bubbles . While Sacramento has only one full-time drive-in theater , businesses and nonprofit organizations around the region picked up on the model , turning spaces such as a winery and unused parking lots into socially distanced entertainment options .

Status Check : Amy Seiwert Dances Again by Graham Womack

In July , Sacramento Ballet terminated the contract of Artistic Director Amy Seiwert due to the financial impact of the pandemic , ending her two-year tenure as one of the first women to lead a professional ballet company in the country . She has since turned her focus back to Amy Seiwert ’ s Imagery , a contemporary ballet company she founded in 2011 , and is releasing a series of films featuring dancers from four cities this fall .
