The Next Generation of FBC Leadership

The Capital Region Family Business Center is welcoming new leaders . The FBC ’ s mission is to help family businesses in the Greater Sacramento region grow and prosper . Maggie Bender- Johnson , the new board president , and Justin Horner , the new board vice president , are enthusiastic as they take the helm .

President of Bender Insurance Solutions , Bender-Johnson has volunteered with FBC since its 2007 inception and was the organization ’ s first administrator . She has also chaired the next generation affinity group , participated in the first leadership series for NextGens and served as a programs committee member . She officially joined the board in 2019 .
As board president , Bender-Johnson will work to connect with members and to connect members with each other . “ Sharing and peer support are what make this organization so valuable to members and our community ,” she says . She also plans to increase the value of membership and recruit more family business NextGens to join committees and participate . “ I want them to see this as their association and that they can shape its future ,” she says .
Justin Horner has been involved with FBC since 2016 , originally as part of the programs committee that creates engaging events and experiences for members . He then volunteered to lead the first Fall Family Forum and to be the finance chair for the Generations Conference , the organization ’ s largest annual event and the premier family business conference in Northern California .
Horner was welcomed onto the FBC board in 2018 and now , in addition to his vice president responsibilities , he is chair of the Generations Conference committee . As vice president , he ’ ll take a member-focused approach to providing great resources , content and networking opportunities . “ My duties and goals include helping the organization grow its membership base and evolving and expanding our programming to ensure members receive meaningful value in a fun , confidential environment ,” he says .
