Adair gathered the crowd together , explaining that there would be a prayer before the pledge of allegiance . After that , Adair addressed the crowd again .

everyone ’ s time , I ’ m just going to bring Ben up for the start of the ceremony ,” Adair said .
“ He was born in 1920 , he passed away in 2007 . He was a 1937 graduate of Hammonton High School and was a three sport athlete , football , basketball and baseball with nine varsity letters . After he graduated high school , he worked on the family farm in Winslow with his father . In 1939 , he was one of the founding members of the Hammonton Men ’ s Basketball League , which the league is still going on to this day ,” Castone said .
He went on further , explaining that his grandfather was a veteran from World War II and that he met his wife in England while overseas . When Castone came home in 1950 , he worked on bringing the DAV to Hammonton .
“ He was an active member for almost 60 years and was 1st commander and 3rd commander ,” Castone said .
After Castone had finished speaking about his grandfather , he gave the crowd some quotes that his grandfather loved .
“ Spend some , save some , you always have some . The worst thing in life is wasted talent . Positive things happen to positive people ,” Castone said .

speak at the ceremony . Brett explained that he remembered coming to the DAV building when he was younger with his grandfather , watching the men play cards and eat dinners .
“ I know all those members are looking down on us now because their vision is still being active today , as a place where people can come together as a community . People can feel safe that it is getting utilized today ,” Castone said .
Anthony Scaltrito was the next to talk at the event , to honor his father Angelo Scaltrito .
“ It ’ s great to see everyone attending , it ’ s a great honor … he entered the service when he was about 25 years old , he went over there and he did what he had to do for his country … he passed away two years ago a day before Memorial Day , but he ’ s down

Arrest made by HPD
HPD , from Page 2 will be given a court date for Hammonton Joint Municipal Court for the local offenses , Friel said .
Friel said Officer Dalton Scola was the arresting and charging officer .
In other police news , a man was charged with driving while under the influence ( DWI ) at 3:43 a . m . on October 2 , Friel said .
Officer Kyle Ambrozaitis responded in reference to a motor vehicle crash and spoke with Jose Tomas-Sunuc , 32 , of Hammonton Friel said .
Tomas-Sunuc stated he was driving northbound on Grape Street and he ran off the roadway , impacting a parked car , Friel said .
“ He had a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his breath and person ,” Friel said .
He was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol , transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with the following motor vehicle violations : driving while under the influence of alcohol , reckless driving , careless driving , unlicensed driver , failure to wear seat belt , failure to maintain lane of travel and open container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle , Friel said .
Tomas-Sunuc was released as per John ’ s Law pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court and Ambrozaitis was the arresting and investigating officer , Friel said .
This report is comprised of arrests and investigations made by the men and women of local enforcement . All suspects and arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law .
