Summary and self reflection
Today we have learnt that :
• Most people want to be happy .
• It is not possible to be happy all the time .
• Happiness can mean different things to different people but generally happiness is a feeling that comes over you when you know life is good and you like how life is right now .
Summary and self reflection
• We can change our levels of happiness .
• There are probably more things we can try that we don ’ t yet know about or didn ’ t realise can make us happy .
• We all have things that we think make us happy but some are not as effective as we might think .
• There are two approaches to happiness , Eudaimonic and Hedonic , and in life we benefit most when we do both .
Instructions
Take one minute to ask some , or all , of the reflection questions below . Tell your group that they do not need to answer verbally . Instead you want them to think about the answers quietly to themselves . If it helps ask the group to close their eyes as this may help them to focus . You only need to allow 15 seconds per question .
Questions
1 . What did you enjoy and why ? 2 . What have you learnt today that you didn ’ t know before ? 3 . What will you do differently as a result of what you learnt today ?
Instructions
Having completed this , you could take a couple of minutes to ask individuals to write down their answers on paper and hand these in . This would provide you with a useful evaluation of what they gained from the session .
