Family Fest
Family Fest is an annual one-day event typically held in March at Bridge View Center in Ottumwa, and is a collaboration of many local partners. The free event features many exhibits ranging from regional businesses and non-profits, as well as the popular Safety City, which features a fire truck, police cars and ambulance services, and is supervised by local public safety officials. There also are bounce houses, games and other activities in a fun zone. Regional youth also perform live entertainment such as dance programs and reading programs. Lemonade Day
This annual event showcases young entrepreneurs by demonstrating how to start, own and operate their own business, in this case, a lemonade stand. The event is held in one day in May, with the 2026 event held May 9 and over 25 lemonade stands signed up for the event. Students in grades 3-5 from the Cardinal and Ottumwa school districts are eligible to participate in Lemonade Day, which aims to build self-reliance and financial and business skills. Wapello County Car Guys’ Car Show
The Wapello County Car Guys’ Car Show is an annual event that features a full-day of classic vehicles, vendors, food trucks and live music. Entries into the show are typically $ 20 and same-day registration is available. At the end of the show, awards are handed out for the top three motorcycles and top 20 cars and trucks. The event is traditionally held in May, with the 2026 version including a youth judging component, in which kids ages 7-15 inspect vehicles, interview owners and score the entries.
