American Gothic Performing Arts Festival
This annual event celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2022 and presents Wapello County and the surrounding region with an educational-based festival celebrating the performing arts , particularly musical theater . The festival now operates out of the Temple of Creative Arts in the former B ’ Nai Jacob Synagogue . This show features a show and shine , valve cover races and more for two days at Lake Red Rock and downtown Pella on Saturday , July 9 . Main Street Centerville hosts this event , which takes place the fourth Friday of May , June , July and August . The event features live entertainment , including wrestling shows , and vendors . The July event will correspond with the Appanoose County Fair . The 2021 version was the most-attended in the seven years of the event .
