There ’ s something for everyone in Southeast Iowa
After two years of closures , cancellations and modifications due to COVID-19 , southeast Iowa is gearing up for a year full of familiar ( and new ) activities for all ages .
The news staff at the Ottumwa Courier and the Oskaloosa Herald have been collaborating to bring you a versatile and diverse list of things to do in the area , from local farmers markets and museums to Lake Red Rock Balloon Fest in the summer and BaconTown in the fall . No matter your age or interests , the options are endless .
As a Pella resident , you ’ ll definitely catch me eating poffertjes at Tulip Time in May , drinking cocktails and playing games with friends at the new Smash Park and taking walks in historic downtown with my boyfriend , Colton ( peep the photo of us taking a late night walk through the Molengracht ). We both love fall and all things Halloween , so you might just run into us at Halloweenapalooza in Ottumwa in the fall , too !
While there are only 101 things listed in our publication , we know there are so many other opportunities in the area for entertainment and adventure year-round . This year , I encourage you to get out of the house , explore and surround yourself with those you love doing the things you love . Whether that ’ s cheering for your favorite racer at Knoxville Nationals or trout fishing in Ottumwa Park , there ’ s something for everyone right here in southeast Iowa .
