Dear Readers,
We are elated for the opportunity to share with
you our very first issue of 101 Magazine. 101’s unique urban-grunge style features artwork, music, fashion, events,
and all things fly. As the editors of 101, we pride ourselves
in capturing the essence of millennial women of color who
are vibrant, artistic, forward-thinking, and fearless in rocking
their attire. This magazine is for the young women who were
excluded for being “different.” Here at 101 we value your
individuality. This is a space for women to be themselves and
embrace themselves, whether they are wearing Converse or
Jimmy Choos. 101 is here to give young women of color a
voice and a platform. It highlights women who are pursuing
their artistic passions for music, poetry, art, dance, fashion,
and more. However, you will see it as more than just a magazine; 101 is an experience and a movement. There is empowerment in these pages. As you read about women who look
like you, conquering amazing feats in industries primarily run
by men, we hope it will break a barrier of racism and sexism,
so that you may be inspired to make your dreams a reality.
We want to hear from YOU! Share your story with 101. Tell
us what you are doing in your community or your career.
Sincerely,
Your 101 Editors
