A child dies
don’t ask them why
already know what history shows
loveless men lie
A mother’s heart too hurt to cry
holds her child in ruby red
stares at the sky
And they remember her,
the children of Darfur
Dear God I pray
for sure Godspeed
Inspire us to perfect action,
help us see
past all the smoke
don’t let us fall
Help angels fly so these children soon can draw
happy homes
garden beds
families reunited
hearts in red
and water splashing
through all Darfur
clean wells and food for every son, every daughter
May they be safe,
and grow so strong
May they smile,
may they laugh,
know they belong
Bless hands again
