Sean Kirtland: What does Anubis mean and how did you get that name? Sean: What inspires you to write and how do you get ready for a battle? Anubis: Anubis was the God of the Underworld in Ancient Egypt. I actually decided to use the name back in my childhood from an old show that had an evil character by that same name who — in parallel — was also considered a dark warlord of the Underworld. So the persona of that identity was to kill everything I touch in relation to music. Anubis: What inspires me to write is other creative artists and abstract concepts. As far as my preparation for a battle, I study my opponent for two weeks — max. I try to put myself in the mind of my opponent like, “If I were to battle me, what exactly would I say?”, but I also look for the weakest point in my opponent’s style and line of attack.
