local favorite. That’s ruining the
sport. It takes away from battles
that should have been classic,
when the crowd is biased.
Sean: Do you feel the emcees of
today have paid enough dues to
achieve their current success, for
example, pay-per-view, BET and
MTV appearances ?
Miles: Yes. I think they’ve paid
their dues. It takes a lot to get
out there. I don’t think they are
being compensated enough. I feel
like they aren’t standing up for
their worth. There’s a lot going on
behind the scenes. Many [battlers]
are focusing on popularity, not
business.
Sean: What’s your view of the
current class of battle rap? What
direction do you think the game is
headed in?
Miles: I haven’t watched a lot of
footage. I like Prez Mafia; he’s
different. Also Ty Law. That was
a good battle. I like Ah Di Boom;
I think he nice. There’s a lot of
new talent. My question is, “how
will the artist change when the
popularity comes?” You see many
