(which began in 1889) and the
plant in Humboldt.
While the longevity of GMP
Metals in
Humboldt
is
impressive enough, even more
impressive is the
company they keep.
Yes, GMP is one of
four manufacturers in
Humboldt that have
been in operation
here for at least 50
years.
Bob Haley,
Plant
Manager at
GMP Metal
Products
Jones
Companies
began it’s operation in
1936. Con-Agra (J.
Hungerford
Smith)
opened its plant here
THE
VINE
in 1957, and RockTenn
(formerly Alton Box and
Jefferson Smurfitt) opened
its Humboldt facility in 1959.
In the ever-changing world
of manufacturing, having
these
industries
in
Humboldt for five decades is
truly a testament to the
quality of our community
and the companies that
make their home here.
Take a minute to thank the
employees of GMP Metal
Products and all these
industries
for
their
dedication. They’re truly a
feather in the cap for
Humboldt industry.

the completion of the project for several
months, but you can now find the new
website
at
the
same
address,
humboldttnchamber.org.
The new site allows a lot more editing
and content management functionality
to the staff here at the Chamber, and can
be expanded as the need arises. The end
result will be a website that stays up-todate, has more relevant content, and is
more user-friendly both to the editors
and visitors. The new site is also designed
to be more usable on mobile devices!
There is still plenty of content editing to
take place, but we are exci ted about the
possibilities and look forward to having a
better tool to serve our membership and
this community!
