As we delve into this awesome subject finding great Biblical characters to affirm the
teaching on this subject, my prayer for you is that you will, in your own life, grow to
epitomise a person of peace.
Prayer Thought: Won’t you, as we said at the beginning, find your peace this week, not in
better circumstances, but in God Himself. Won’t you read the story of Gideon in Judges 6,
where Gideon declares God to be“Jehovah Shalom” (verse 24).

Over the course of this week we will be looking at the subject of peace under three
headings:
Peace Desired
Peace Defined
Peace Demonstrated.
Today let’s begin with PEACE DESIRED.
I think it is true to say that upon entering this world at birth, there is one search that is
universal to mankind, and that is the search for personal peace. There is within every
persona desire for peace with God. In people’s searching, they often look for peace in the
most ridiculous of places. Some will seek peace in a bottle, or in a drug. Some seek to find
peace in materialism; they need to have more. Some others will try and find peace
through relationships. Taking it astep further; every religion offers “peace”. The Hindu’s
think that they will find peace through self-discipline and this will then lead them into a
state of karma.
