made goodness was not good enough. Jesus’ comment that there is only One who is good and that is God is something that we as Christians believe to be a foundational truth. We believe that God IS good ALL the time. The book of Psalms is known for its declaration of God being good. Here are three verses that would reiterate this fact: Psalm 34 v 8 – “Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD.” Psalm 35 v 8 – “GOOD and upright is the Lord, all his ways are loving and faithful.” Psalm 100 v 5 – “For the Lord is GOOD, his mercy is everlasting” For us as Christians, it is the goodness of God in us that causes any form of goodness to be lived out through us. Any goodness that is evidenced through legalism or self-effort holds no merit and is considered null and void. The fruit of God’s presence in our lives is evidenced through goodness in our lives as a result of the living presence of a very good God who dwells within us. Prayer Thought: Won’t you today do your own goodness evaluation and realise that any goodness through you, which is not as a result of God’s goodness in you, holds no eternal value.
