back I shared an illustration with you that, although simple, is deeply profound. The story is of a kid on his way back from Sunday school and has a conversation with his mom. He says to her, “Mom, the teacher today said that God is bigger than me, is that true?”“Yes”, said his mother,“God is much much bigger then you”. The child went on to say,“The teacher also said that God lives in me, is that true?” To which his mother replied, “Yes, indeed it is”. The child then, with profound observation, said,“Mom, if it is true that God is bigger than me and He also lives in me,then shouldn’t God show through me?” Herein lies a mystical truth that we cannot explain or begin to truly understand, but it does make it clear to us that if Christ dwells in us than there must surely be evidence of His life lived through us. In order to portray the Galatians 5 character traits we are surely going to need more than good intentions or spiritual disciplines. I believe that herein lies the secret. If we could comprehend the full extent of the power of God in us, it would totally blow us away. In Colossians 1 v 27 we read, “…Christ in you, the hope of glory.” It is this power of the indwelling Christ that makes all the difference. When Christ’s Spirit unites with ours and we connect at a far deeper level then the superficial level that most of us are familiar with, something supernatural takes place, where without effort and meticulous detail to the law, the Christ-life will be seen in us. Our Christian faith is, at its essence,a supernatural faith and it is this supernatural power within us that will lead us to bear fruit that, ordinarily speaking, we would not be capable of. It is this supernatural power that transformed the life of people like the apostle Paul who, as a result of the indwelling power of Christ and his abiding in Christ, we see the key to him becoming the spiritual giant that he was. We know that he was a human being like us, with all the human frailties that go with that, and yet we see God transforming this man despite his human tendencies. Prayer Thought: As you pray today in the full awareness of your humanness won’t yousee if you need to rekindle that place of passion that exists in the depth of your soul and ask God to connect with you in a “supernatural” way (only the courageous amongst us will really pray this and mean ????((0
