Prioritize what ’ s important in your life . There are many things we need and want to do each day . But if we want to be fully prepared for whatever comes our way , we need to take 10 to 15 minutes each day to plan and prioritize . This is a great way to save a lot of time and energy . Make part of that planning to include a time for rest and relaxation . Rest and recharge .
Get all the rest you need . Remember when you only needed 6 hours of sleep ? Now you need eight ? Remember when you had to be home when the street lights came on and now you want to go to bed when the street lights come one ! When you ’ re tired , it ’ s easier to get angry , harder to focus , and harder to do what you need to do . Rather than skimping on sleep , treat your body to the rest it truly needs .
Laugh often and do more of what you love . When someone asks , “ What do you do for fun ?” Do you find it hard to come up with an answer ? Some of us actually have to learn how to enjoy life . When you have downtime , keep it simple , watch a really good movie , spend time with the children and grandchildren , go shopping , and hang out with friends - especially the ones who make you laugh . Take some time to think about what brings out the best in you , and then do it .
Exercise and be active . One of the best things you can do for your health is to simply move . If you want to form a habit of regular exercise , don ’ t talk about how hard it is . Think about the results you will have if you are persistent ! Even if you don ' t have much time to workout , doing something is better than doing nothing .
Eat foods that energize you . A simple key to healthy eating is this : eat the foods that are as natural as possible , as close as they are to their original form and you can ' t go wrong . Eat at least one vegetable with every meal . Fresh fruit makes a great-energy boosting snack . Eat often , it keeps your metabolism working . Try not to go more than 3 hours without eating something . And if you forget to take healthy snacks , stop at the closest spot for something healthy to eat . Regardless of what you do , make right choices when it comes to the food you eat .
Drink the water your body needs . Many people prefer other beverages to water . Staying properly hydrated is a minor adjustment in order to make a major difference in your life ! Even if you don ' t like the taste of water at first , give your taste buds a chance to re-adjust . Could you be drinking water because you love it and it makes you feel good ? Drink the amount of water your body needs , a good formula is to divide your body weight by 2 and then drink that many ounces of water each day .
; Have a plan but don ’ t get upset if your plan gets interrupted . We are all for having a plan , but very few days work out exactly the way we have planned . We need to learn it ' s okay !
