“ The piece of the summer travel equation that often goes unnoticed is you !”

by Tricia Leach

Summer is well underway , and if you haven ' t set out on an RV trip yet , we bet there is one coming in your future . The problem with summer is that it ' s hot out there , so it ' s essential to take care of your equipment , allowing it to take care of you .

You ’ re probably thinking about the RV , and yes , there is a lot to manage : mechanical systems , tires , water , electrical and more . Not to mention where you ' re going to stay and what you ’ re going to do . But the piece of the summer travel equation that often goes unnoticed is you ! You ( or , more specifically , your body ) are the most important piece of equipment you own . That ’ s why it ’ s critical to make sure you stay hydrated , get plenty of rest , and stop along the way to eat and stretch . These are all crucial ingredients in the recipe for a successful RV trip .
One of the tips Marc and I have found useful is that rest stops are a great mental trigger for self-care .
We all have to fuel up , but a truck stop / gas station is not quite the same as a rest stop . Visiting rest stops along the way can help facilitate a small stretch for circulation , walking the dog , grabbing a snack , or switching drivers . All of this pays significant dividends when it comes to your longevity and peace of mind .
No matter how you keep the rubber on the road , we hope this summer brings great memories your way — and that you ’ re taking care of yourself so you can fully enjoy them .
Happy trails and happy reading !
See you out there ! Marc & Tricia
