shop began making and selling face masks in April when the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention recommended that people wear face
coverings to reduce the transmission of the coronavirus, and masks
were selling out quickly online, leaving some customers waiting weeks
to receive their orders. Old Country Tailor halted production of all other
work during April and sold around 4,000 masks that month, according to
shop owner Vera Samusenko (lower right). Old Country Tailor returned to
doing alteration work in May but continues to make and sell face masks.
