McCarthy Building Companies is also in the earliest design / build stage for a five-story , 490-bed hospital in Roseville for Kaiser Permanente that Holguin says will be the largest hospital in Placer County . “ It ’ s much smaller than the UC Davis project and will go up quicker ,” he says . “ We will have the new parking garage up in 18 to 24 months .”
As foundations are poured and walls go up , Caitlin Stevenson is already deep into planning the inside of these types of buildings . As the Sacramento office leader for Taylor Design , which specializes in health care facilities , Stevenson says that interior design is critical because “ it has an impact on patients ’ recovery and on how the people who work there use the building .”
Stevenson is involved from the very beginning of a project , consulting with medical specialists about where patients come into contact with clinical staff , studying work flow and consulting with architects . “ We want the function of the building to dictate the form ,” she says .
