SACRAMENTO ’ S PREMIER MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR CELEBRATES 75 YEARS
Lawson Mechanical Contractors is celebrating 75 years in business , having earned great respect and success in the construction industry . Archie Lawson founded the firm in 1947 as Lawson Sheet Metal , but by the 1950s , he expanded into plumbing and piping and the business took on the name it operates under today .
President and CEO David Lawson , grandson of entrepreneur and founder Archie , says , “ My grandfather , who worked in the shipyards during World War II , migrated from the Midwest to California on freight trains during the Depression and later launched his business in Sacramento . We are still here today as a privately-held family business with roots of three-quarters of a century in this community .”
With projects throughout Central and Northern California , the company provides comprehensive contracting services , specializing in HVAC and plumbing , engineering , design and service . Markets span the commercial and government sectors and include healthcare , hospitality and education .
“ We design , build and service HVAC and plumbing systems ,” Lawson says . “ Our work includes new-build construction projects as well as renovations . Many older buildings are repurposed and need complete HVAC and plumbing overhauls . Our HVAC service department ensures our systems continue to perform .”
The company employs a team of 200 to 250 sheet metal workers , plumbers and pipefitters at any given time . Lawson notes that all team members put heavy emphasis on the details of every project . “ Performance is in the details . We do our work well and on time , with a superior product delivered to our customers : general contractors and building owners .”
