A Sweet Heart

The owners of Sacramento doughnut shop Sweet Dozen, siblings Nuny
Cabanting (left) and Jeremy Khamphay (below), make batches of blackfrosted
heart-shaped doughnuts for National Doughnut Day on June 5.
The doughnuts were sold for $3, and the proceeds went to the Black Youth
Leadership Project, a Sacramento-based nonprofit aimed at educating Black
students to become civically engaged and future policy leaders. Lorreen
Pryor (bottom left), president of the organization, visits the shop to thank
Cabanting (bottom right) and Khamphay — the shop donated more than
$1,200 from doughnut sales and additional contributions from customers.
