Construction & development This sketch of the Aggie Square project simulates the view from Stockton Boulevard, where the UC Davis Sacramento Campus will open up to the community. Ahead is the Lifelong Learning Building and Innovation Hall. launched by two Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduates and has expanded to several U.S. and international locations to provide incubator and coworking space, plus shared wet lab amenities. “Those lab amenities for life sciencesrelated work (are) instrumental to getting young businesses off the ground because, otherwise, lab space is scarce and very expensive to develop,” says Segar. “CIC anticipates having space in the Aggie Square lab buildings and the lifelong learning building. It’s a game changer for UCD and Sacramento, and (it’s) one of the partnerships we’re most excited about.” Louis Stewart, chief innovation officer for the City of Sacramento, acts as liaison and project manager, coordinating meetings and communications, speaking engagements, and representing the city on behalf of the project. “Aggie Square has the potential to be a tremendous job creator, both directly and indirectly,” says Stewart.
