Construction & development
REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
SNAPSHOT
Development and construction are changing
the landscape of California’s Capital
Region, physically and economically. In
this special section, Comstock’s looked at
a cross-section of development projects
around the region. We touched base with
representatives to get the latest information
on significant projects under their
purview.
Woodland Research & Technology Park
Ken Hiatt, community and economic development
director, City of Woodland
Type of Development: Mixed use
Description: “The project integrates high-technology office and research
and development companies with visitor accommodations,
employee-serving retail and recreational uses.”
Size: 350 acres
Location: State Route 113 and County Road 25A, Woodland
Start Date: 2021
Completion Date: “Build out over the next 10-15 years, with initial
phases to be completed over the next 3-5 years.”
What impact do you predict this project will have on
the local economy?
“The Woodland Research & Technology Park will connect
Woodland, a community that has shaped the future of food and
agriculture for over a century, with UC Davis, one of the leading
agricultural-research universities. The technology park’s dynamic
work-live-play environment will attract highly skilled professionals
to the region and will provide new housing opportunities and a
long-term economic base for Woodland’s future generations.”
Mansion Apartments
Anastasia Bonaccorso, director of marketing and
special projects, SKK Developments
Type of Development: Mixed use
Description: 186 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units
Size: About 3,000 square feet of ground floor retail
Location: 700 16th St., Sacramento
Start Date: Spring 2020
Completion Date: Spring 2022
What makes this project significant?
“This project replaces a block that has been inhabited by a derelict
building for half a decade in direct view of the Governor’s Mansion,
(Chando’s Cantina), Holiday Inn Express, Broadway Sacramento
and Sacramento Theatre Company. We anticipate that this project
will continue to inspire investment in this area north of H Street.”
