Students in the Sierra College mechatronics program learn a combination of mechanical engineering , electronics and computer science , which can be applied in a variety of industries , from mechanical automation to stagecraft .

In other higher-education development news , Sacramento State is still working to develop its Placer Center , which was approved two years ago by California State University trustees after receiving a land donation from developer Eli Broad . The center will be the centerpiece of the 2,200- acre Placer Ranch development .
“ We ’ ve been working on the master plan since the trustees accepted the land in spring of 2020 and we intend to have a draft environmental impact review for the public by late summer ,” says Tania Nunez , project manager . “ In an ideal world , we will be ready to break ground on the first phase in three to five years .”
