“ The city council envisioned green space in the heart of town — Rocklin ’ s version of Central Park — providing an oasis for recreation , relaxation and outdoor activities and that is coming to fruition with Sunset Whitney Recreation Area ,” says Michael Young , who ’ s in charge of communications and special projects for Rocklin ’ s Office of the City Manager .
In 2019 , the city officially opened the park ’ s West Trails section with 2.4 miles of paved walking paths and has recently secured grant funding to restore the East Trails portion , which will add another 2.2 miles of paved paths .
Rocklin is home to another significant park . “ The City of Rocklin built Quarry Park Adventures and invested in it as a city park at large for residents ’ enjoyment , but also to serve as an economic driver , and it does just that ,” says Caleb Turnbow , general manager of Quarry Park Adventures . “ Each year , tens of thousands of people venture to Rocklin for all Quarry Park Adventures offers and , while here , they spend money in our community . About 90 percent of our customers are from outside of Rocklin .”
Quarry Park Adventures , which boasts activities like rock climbing , zip lining , paddle boating and more , also serves Rocklin by regularly donating to local nonprofits and schools , participating in community events and making the park available to community groups and leaders . The local fire department and first responders utilize the park for technical trainings each year .
For wine and beer connoisseurs , the Placer Wine & Ale Trail is the place to be this summer with the Sips & Suds Summer Passport . For only $ 35 , a passport gives visitors access to $ 150 worth of complimentary tastings and other specials and experiences at participating wineries and breweries in Auburn , Granite Bay , Lincoln , Loomis , Newcastle , Rocklin and Roseville . Participants may use the passport through Aug . 31 to enjoy fine wines and
