Businesses want to be in Placer County

Placer County leaders are dedicated to promoting great policies and the smart growth that the county is known for , in addition to its natural attributes . “ Our employers , businesses and residents are here because of our outstanding quality of life ,” confirms Sherri Conway , Placer County economic development director .

Employers need a skilled workforce and top public education and affordable housing for employees . Placer County offers all of that in addition to bountiful amenities and recreation , great climate and spectacular landscape , from the valley to the peaks of the Sierra Nevada .
Placer County recently launched the area ’ s first Business Retention and Expansion Program in partnership with the five cities , one town and all chambers of commerce throughout the county . A recent survey revealed the top reasons reported for locating a business in Placer County were 1 ) safety of the community , 2 ) market opportunity / demand , and 3 ) community pride . “ Business owners listing community pride says so much about Placer County ,” Conway says . “ We try to remove obstacles , resolve challenges and hear what businesses need to stay happy and prosper .”
The county also prioritizes and supports new business formation for entrepreneurs and early-stage , growth-oriented companies and provides resources for existing businesses . This is accomplished through no-cost technical assistance , programs and services at the Placer Business Resource Center in Rocklin .
Placer County ’ s high-quality public education will also soon be enhanced . The Sunset Area Plan to be developed on 8,000 unincorporated acres between Roseville , Rocklin and Lincoln will feature Sierra College and Sacramento State satellite campuses to form a continuum of top education . “ This combined campus will enable our local workforce to come right from our own four-year university ,” Conway says .
In order to keep workforce housing affordable and maintain the county ’ s status as a top destination for businesses , Placer is also seeing tens of thousands of new homes being built . “( Businesses ) want to be here and we want them here ,” Conway concludes .
