Kathrin ’ s Biergarten
4810 Granite Drive , Suite 1A , Rocklin
As the website for this German biergarten , restaurant and brewpub proclaims , “ Durst ist schlimmer als Heimweh ”: Thirst is worse than homesickness . For owner Kathrin Grosse , founding her eponymous business in 2017 was a way to bring her native Germany to California . What began as a private Oktoberfest event soon drew such a following that Grosse decided to open a restaurant featuring imported microbrews and authentic , home-cooked German snacks and dishes made with family recipes . Try the bestselling Jägerschnitzel ( lightly fried pork or chicken with creamy mushroom Jäger sauce ) or the best pretzel in town .

Kevin Stevenson believes if you build it , they will come , which is exactly what he ’ s done with Casque Wines . After various careers , including managing Placer ’ s vineyard community Clos du Lac for more than 10 years , Stevenson decided to create wine under his own label named for the revolutionary 1900s French helmet , the Casque Adrian . “ We concentrate on getting the best fruit from the best vineyard sites and showcasing that by making really creative and smart decisions ,” Stevenson says . The winery opened in 2011 and added a tasting room at the Flower Farm in 2013 , where visitors can enjoy a delicious lunch along with a bottle of Casque ’ s unique blended varietals .
