Leadership Leads to Success for Credit Union
SAFE Credit Union ’ s success begins with experts like Alexis Fitzpatrick . As Senior Vice President of Finance , Fitzpatrick is responsible for the organization ’ s financial planning and analysis . She guides the accounting , treasury , secondary market , business intelligence and reporting , and the administration of the sales / promotion incentive plan .
As a senior executive team member , Fitzpatrick provides insight and guidance into SAFE ’ s financial condition and performance and participates in strategic and business planning activities . She says , “ I use financial analysis to help make decisions to benefit the organization and our members , and I help facilitate SAFE ’ s best financial decisions by reviewing and managing the balance sheet and developing strategies to grow revenue and maximize return on capital .”
Fitzpatrick oversees five departments and 24 people who work seamlessly together . “ We really are one big finance family ,” she says . “ Culture is a key reason I work for SAFE and it ’ s why we have been recognized as a Best Place to Work for many years .”
Through the pandemic , Fitzpatrick ’ s team has retained their collaborative spirit . “ Even when working from home , it ’ s important to foster a sense of family , culture , balance and vision to what we want to accomplish ,” she says . “ One-onone meetings , Zoom team meetings and being in-office frequently to support others allow me to do my best to build our strong team culture .”
Fitzpatrick ’ s background in public accounting , passion for strategy and her first year focused on financial planning and analysis for SAFE have helped her excel in overseeing the finance department . “ Finance is embedded throughout the business and I really enjoy the collaboration and camaraderie required ,” she says .
Looking ahead , Fitzpatrick ’ s goals include continuing to manage various impacts of the pandemic , including financial effects and remote working . “ The support I receive at SAFE , from leadership to collaborators , allows me to focus on what I need to do to ensure that SAFE continues to be financially strong and well positioned to meet our members and community ’ s needs ,” she says .
