The 2026 season feels almost like a new era in WorldSBK, so, in the opinion of some top competitors, who was the best of the best? The best champion, the best overall era- and what is each rider’ s personal high point so far?

A seven-time Moto2 race winner and now one of the two new riders for the Barcelona-based Honda HRC effort, Jake Dixon is trying to maximise the undoubted potential of the Honda Fireblade. Once a BSB Championship racer, and five-time race winner there, Jake has a firm understanding of who the WorldSBK GOAT is.“ Johnny,” he stated, without hesitation- speaking, of course, about Jonathan Rea.“ Stats don’ t lie. And I just think he is an all-rounder as well. He has done it all and he has won with Honda and Kawasaki. Six times champion, it says everything- and he is a good guy. I get on with him really well.”
And what about the best-ever era in WorldSBK, according to Jake? He stays, more or less on either side of the Millennium for his favourite timeframe of WorldSBK.“ I would say that the Edwards, Gobert, Bayliss era,” stated Dixon.“ Just because I think the racing was so close. Funnily enough, while I was flying to Australia for round one I was watching the greatest highlights of Anthony Gobert. And I did not realise how much a machine he was! Watching the races of him at Phillip Island was so good. And how close it was? Super-close. Before that, the Fogarty era as well.”
When this interview was taking place, Jake was still yet to ride for his HRC team in 2026. This is, however, not his first experience of WorldSBK. He already has one top ten finish under his belt, at Donington Park in 2018, when he was a Kawasaki wildcard rider.

Habitual en el pasado del Campeonato BSB, donde ganó cinco carreras, entiende firmemente quién es el mejor de todos los tiempos en WorldSBK.“ Johnny”, declara sin dudarlo, refiriéndose por supuesto a Jonathan Rea.“ Las estadísticas no mienten. Y creo que es un piloto muy completo. Lo ha logrado todo y ha ganado con Honda y Kawasaki. Seis veces campeón del mundo, eso ya lo dice todo, y además es un buen tipo. Me llevo muy bien con él”.
¿ Y cuál es la mejor época de la historia del WorldSBK, según Jake? Su época favorita se sitúa más o menos en algún punto entre el año 2000 y el 2000.“ Diría que la era de Edwards, Gobert y Bayliss”, explica.“ Simplemente porque creo que las carreras eran muy reñidas. Lo curioso es que mientras volaba hacia Australia para la primera ronda estaba viendo en una pantalla los mejores momentos de Anthony Gobert. ¡ Y no me había dado cuenta de lo gran piloto que era! Ver sus carreras en Phillip Island es increíble. ¿ Y lo reñidas que fueron? ¡ súper reñidas, vamos! Y antes de todo eso, también la era de Fogarty”.
En el momento de realizar esta entrevista, Jake aún no ha debutado con el equipo HRC en 2026. Sin embargo, esta no es su primera experiencia en el WorldSBK. Ya logró un puesto entre los diez primeros en Donington Park en 2018, donde participaba como piloto invitado de Kawasaki.
