For almost 100 years , the LaGrande family has been perfecting rice varietals on sustainable family farms in Northern California . An extension of this natural feel seeps into their new office space on Venture Oaks Way in Sacramento .
The new office building is nestled underneath a tree canopy and looks out over a picturesque landscape , says Brett LaGrande , Sun Valley Rice senior vice president . “ We worked with our designers to incorporate a modern , agricultural feel ,” he says .
The design features tin , wood and a lot of bright greens . The floor features a mixture of wood and geometrical-lined carpeting , while the office walls showcase paintings of chickens and artwork with green , blue and brown — colors reminiscent of the landscape of agriculture in California . LaGrande says the design has even influenced the company ’ s marketing design , as they have started to adopt the same color palette .
LaGrande says the DGA team was the natural pick for the project , as they specialize in designing spaces for the life sciences and technology sectors . The previous kitchen area was closed off , so a wall was taken down to create a more open feel and increase workflow with a more communal feel . Remarkably , there were no challenges during the six-month renovation process . “ We had a blank slate and it was a great space ,” LaGrande says .
