DEVELOPER ALLEN WARREN : A LION IN SPRING
BY Ed Goldman

Unless you count his two years playing in the minors for the New York Yankees , Allen Warren , the founder , owner and chief futurist of New Faze Development , has had only one job in which he answered to a boss : as a trader for Dean Witter ( now a part of Morgan Stanley ). It emerged from the only job interview he ever went on .

“ I loved the work ,” he says . “ But after a couple of years I had a chance to get involved in a real estate project . I took some time off from Wall Street and figured I ’ d do this development project then head back to New York City , which I also loved .” He pauses . “ But I guess I ’ d found my true calling ,” he says .
From Creekside , Warren ’ s first subdivision , then Morrison Point , Warren ’ s goal was to develop communities within communities -- and within the financial reach of African-American and other minorities who were underserved and under siege by drugs , unemployment and crime .
