CHAMBER LEADER PROVIDES STAUNCH SUPPORT FOR BUSINESSES
As President and CEO of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce , Debbie Manning is responsible for the organization ’ s fiscal management , membership recruitment and retention , political advocacy , planning , staff management and much more , including “ keeping the lights on ,” as she says .
A leader with integrity and tenacity , Manning is also an unwavering advocate for businesses in El Dorado Hills , her home for nearly 30 years . She ’ s been with the chamber for 21 years , fighting to keep the business community thriving . “ Early in my career , my late husband said this job was made for me ,” she says . “ He knew I would do everything in my power to help create a strong business community .”
Starting with the chamber in 2001 as a part-time staff member , Manning was charged with growing the membership from the 180 members at the time . “ With the help of many , including supportive board directors , we now have more than 535 members , three full-time and three part-time team members and four travel concierge volunteers ,” she says .
“ In 2010 , we were awarded a contract as a California Welcome Center and , prepandemic , we were seeing 15,000 guests from all around the world .”
Manning is surrounded by many strong women , as the chamber team is currently 100 percent women . Of 12 board positions , seven are held by women and the chamber ’ s Ambassador program is 65 percent women . Many women-owned businesses are chamber members as well .
Manning ’ s steadfast goal is helping the El Dorado Hills business community prosper . “ My hope is that we all realize the importance of supporting our local businesses and how local buying can improve our entire community ,” she says . “ I also look forward to working with my board of directors and other leaders to move the incorporation of El Dorado Hills forward . My passion is simple — this is my home and I want to see it be the best that it can be .”
