United Way California Capital Region

HARNESSING THE POWER OF WOMEN

United Way California Capital Region has become a center of excellence for women who are committed to reducing poverty in the Capital Region .

As the local United Way prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary next year , it also celebrates the increasing number of women serving in leadership roles at the nonprofit across areas of expertise from operations , finance and labor to fundraising , marketing and donor relations . With nine women leaders , including President and CEO Dr . Dawnté Early , United Way California Capital Region has become a thought leader in bringing people together to fight poverty starting at square one — helping local families succeed so their communities can too .
“ Our local United Way strongly believes that a commitment to diversity , equity and inclusion is fundamental to coming together to reduce poverty in our region , and that means we must include women ’ s powerful expertise and experiences ,” Early says . “ Our United Way is leading by example as more women take on leadership roles in our organization .”
Amber Lovett serves as the nonprofit ’ s chief resource development and marketing officer , overseeing a team of 20 that raises millions of dollars each year . Her team ’ s five women leaders include Lori Ross , who oversees Yolo County development ; Lori Hanley , who directs marketing ; Tabitha Angel , who runs the state Our Promise giving campaign ; Stacey Wolfenberger , who runs United Way ’ s workplace giving campaigns ; and Yolanda Torrecillas who is the director of donor relations . Lili Bach serves as labor liaison , overseeing all of United Way California Capital Region ’ s labor relationships . Erin Manning serves as director of finance , paying out millions of dollars to nonprofits every year through United Way ’ s workplace giving campaigns and overseeing United Way ’ s financial health .
