The 2026 season feels almost like a new era in WorldSBK, so, in the opinion of some top competitors, who was the best of the best in WorldSBK? The best champions, the best overall era, and what is each rider’ s personal high point so far?

In 2026, Petrucci becomes a WorldSBK factory rider, and in a double championship-winning BMW squad, no less. But, looking back just for a moment, who is the best WorldSBK champ he has ever seen?“ Maybe the greatest is Johnny Rea- after winning a lot of championships,” said‘ Petrux’.“ And, especially to have had the chance to race with him. It’ s incredible after many championships to still have a lot of motivation. And then there is Carl Fogarty- winning so much and helping WorldSBK grow. One of the best talents I have ever seen is Toprak … I’ m so happy to see him in MotoGP now. I’ m one of his biggest fans, and I hope he will get the best from this experience.”
Petrucci’ s favourite WorldSBK era is probably shared by many.“ I think it was in the middle of the 1990s. I remember still the liveries of the bikes- the red Ducati, the Castrol Honda, the Alstare Suzuki, and the green Kawasaki- that is something that I still have in my mind. And I always hope to open up an era of big fights and big champions in the future.”
On a purely personal level, his own triple race-winning weekend in Cremona, in 2024, is the true high point.“ For sure, winning three races in Cremona was something really good. That is still a big, big memory, especially winning in Italy.”

A nível pessoal, o seu memorável fim de semana com três vitórias em Cremona, em 2024, destaca-se como um ponto alto: « Ganhar três corridas em Cremona foi verdadeiramente extraordinário. Continua a ser uma memória plena de significado, especialmente por ter ganho em Itália.»
