Andrea Locatelli- Pata Maxus Yamaha WorldSBK
The first circuit that Italy’ s Andrea Locatelli took a WorldSBK podium at was Assen, in 2021. By that time he had already been a recordbreaking WorldSSP Champion, in 2020. Shortly before that, he had been a Moto3 and Moto2 rider through-and-through.
With so many other racing experiences before he even got to the top end of the WorldSBK paddock, what does WorldSBK in general mean to‘ Loka,’ who is now in his fifth WorldSBK season?
“ What I like about this paddock is the people,” he said just before the first round of the year in Australia.“ Also, that means you the journalists. It is not like you are more friendly, but you are more clear guys. It seems like the people looking here are looking with different eyes. Not that we are stars- we are not stars- but people know what we are doing. People are more calm, more quiet, so it was a little bit different. I feel here, even though I am in a factory team, everyone is friendly- and everyone has a passion for the job.”
Here’ s a small additional fact for you … In a weird link with his recent former Pata Yamaha team-mate Razgatlioglu, Andrea was born on exactly the same day, month and year as Toprak- 16 October 1996.
Het eerste circuit waar de Italiaan Andrea Locatelli een WorldSBKpodium pakte, was Assen in 2021. Op dat moment was hij al met een record kampioen geworden in het WorldSSP in 2020 en in de jaren daarvoor reed hij in het WK Moto3 en Moto2.
Met zoveel race-ervaring is het erg interessant om te horen wat het WorldSBK-paddock betekent voor‘ Loka’, die nu aan zijn vijfde WorldSBK-seizoen bezig is.
“ Wat ik leuk vind aan deze paddock zijn de mensen,” zei hij vlak voor de eerste ronde van het jaar in Australië.“ Dat betekent ook jullie, de journalisten. Het is niet zo dat jullie vriendelijker zijn, maar jullie zijn duidelijkere jongens. Het lijkt alsof de mensen hier met andere ogen kijken. Niet dat we sterren zijn- dat zijn we niet- maar mensen weten wat we doen. Mensen zijn rustiger en het was daarom in eerste instantie een beetje wennen. Ik heb het gevoel dat, ook al zit ik in een fabrieksteam, iedereen hier vriendelijk is- en iedereen heeft passie voor het werk.”
Hier is een klein extra feitje voor jullie … In een vreemde toevalligheid met zijn voormalige Pata Yamaha-teamgenoot Razgatlioglu, is Andrea geboren op precies dezelfde datum als Toprak: 16 oktober 1996.
