TOUR DE TT GETS A NEW LOOK
De Tour de TT gaat langs locaties waar de TT de afgelopen honderd jaar is gereden, wordt speciaal voor de gelegenheid opgeknapt. Onder aanvoering van het Recreatieschap Drenthe werken ondernemers en overheden, samen om motorrijders en fietsers op moderne wijze kennis te laten maken met onze bijzondere geschiedenis. Langs de route zijn kunst werken aanwezig. Meer dan twintig speciale belangrijke punten zullen uitgebreid worden beschreven, waaronder uiteraard het huidige circuit.
The Tour de TT, which takes riders past all the locations where the TT has been held over the past hundred years, is being revamped for this special occasion. Artwork along the route will be restored, and more than twenty key locations, including the current circuit, will be extensively documented.
ONE-TIME MARATHON ON HISTORIC ROUTE
To mark the anniversary, the annual TT City Run will be expanded to include a full marathon. The 42-kilometre course will pass through three historic circuit locations. The race will start on the TT Circuit and finish at Torenlaan in Assen, the former site of the TT Bureau. The route will also pass through Rolde and Hooghalen. This will be the first-ever road marathon in Assen. At the finish line, participants will receive a special marathon medal.
Speciaal voor het jubileum wordt de jaarlijkse TT City Run uitgebreid met een marathon. Het ruim 42 kilometer lange parcours gaat over drie klassieke locaties van het circuit. De start is op het circuit. De finish aan de Torenlaan in Assen, waar vroeger het TT Bureau was gevestigd. De route loopt verder onder meer via Rolde en Hooghalen. Het is de eerste wegmarathon in Assen ooit. Voor de deelnemers wacht aan de finish een speciale marathon-medaille.

Een nieuw seizoen en ook een nieuw onderdeel van het Officiële Programma om ons nog meer inzicht te geven in de mindset van de toprijders. Bij elke ronde vragen we een aantal wat het WorldSBK voor ze betekent. Deze keer zijn dat Toprak Razgatlioglu en Andrea Locatelli.
Another season and another new element of the Official Programme to give us yet more insight into the top riders ’ mindsets . At each round we are asking some of them what the WorldSBK scene means to them . This time around it is Toprak Razgatlioglu and Andrea Locatelli .
Toprak Razgatlioglu - ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team
A truly unique talent and an even more individual character as a human being , the 28-year-old Turkish phenomenon may have entered the global scene via the IDM paddock and then the 2013 Rookies Cup , but from then on WorldSBK can safely claim him as its very own .
De 28 jaar oude Toprak is een uniek talent en een nog unieker mens. Hij deed zijn intrede in de racewereld via het IDM-paddock en de 2013 Rookies Cup, maar sindsdien kan het WorldSBK hem gerust tot zijn eigen ‘ team’ rekenen.

A double WorldSBK Champion , for two manufacturers , no less , Toprak is simply a force of racing nature . “ It is easy to explain what WorldSBK means to me ,” he said early in the new season . “ After a long break , I feel inside that I am excited a lot . Inside I say it ’ s like I have come home . I know everyone , and when I see them I say ‘ hi !’ This is perfect . I like the WorldSBK paddock because I know everyone and I am very good with everyone , as their relationship is always good with me . I go to speak with some other riders , mechanics .”
Often , when a rider becomes really famous or even a World Champion , they can become more contained and less open than before . Not Toprak . “ Some riders , some people when they get the title , they love the show . Maybe feeling like a Superstar . I never feel like this , because , for me what is important is your character . I think people love me for this . Not just riding the bike . OK , I am riding the bike , but the important thing is your personality . When I see you I say , ‘ how are you ?’ This is very important for me . I am always the same for everyone when I came to this paddock . If I changed my character , I think I would lose everything . This is the most important thing for me , better than winning the title .”
Vaak is het zo dat wanneer een rijder echt beroemd wordt, of zelfs wereldkampioen wordt, hij zich meer inhoudt en minder open is dan voorheen. Toprak niet. “Sommige rijders en sommige mensen houden van de show nadat ze een titel winnen. Misschien voelen ze zich een superster. Ik voel me nooit zo, want wat voor mij belangrijk is, is je karakter. Ik denk dat mensen daarom van me houden. Niet alleen om het racen. Oké, ik race met de motor, maar het belangrijkste is je persoonlijkheid. Als ik je zie, zeg ik: ‘hoe gaat het met je?’ Dat is heel belangrijk voor mij. Ik ben altijd hetzelfde voor iedereen vanaf het moment dat ik naar dit paddock kwam. Als ik mijn karakter zou veranderen, denk ik dat ik alles zou verliezen. Dat is het belangrijkste voor mij, belangrijker dan het winnen van de titel.”
Andrea Locatelli - Pata Maxus Yamaha WorldSBK
The first circuit that Italy ’ s Andrea Locatelli took a WorldSBK podium at was Assen , in 2021 . By that time he had already been a recordbreaking WorldSSP Champion , in 2020 . Shortly before that , he had been a Moto3 and Moto2 rider through-and-through .
Het eerste circuit waar de Italiaan Andrea Locatelli een WorldSBKpodium pakte , was Assen in 2021 . Op dat moment was hij al met een record kampioen geworden in het WorldSSP in 2020 en in de jaren daarvoor reed hij in het WK Moto3 en Moto2 .
With so many other racing experiences before he even got to the top end of the WorldSBK paddock , what does WorldSBK in general mean to ‘ Loka ,’ who is now in his fifth WorldSBK season ?

Not that we are stars - we are not stars - but people know what we are doing . People are more calm , more quiet , so it was a little bit different . I feel here , even though I am in a factory team , everyone is friendly - and everyone has a passion for the job .”

Here ’ s a small additional fact for you … In a weird link with his recent former Pata Yamaha team-mate Razgatlioglu , Andrea was born on exactly the same day , month and year as Toprak - 16 October 1996 .

On display at the Paddock show are WorldSBK racing machines from the many competing manufacturers. There are also video promotions, evening concerts, sponsor displays, competitions, quizzes, and the always popular Chat Shows with both the upand-coming and established stars. There are many attractions that take place at the Paddock Show.
