British dialects and slangs
Dialects are different from accents in the way that they
are involved with the grammar and the vocabulary as
well as the pronunciation. In other words, a dialect
usually includes an accent.
There are a number of dialects in the UK. Traditional
dialects like ‘Ay up me duck?’ (Hello, my friend—East
Midlands), or ‘Cor Blimey guv’na’ (Oh, my Gosh—
Cockney) are spoken by the older British. Younger
people tend to use slangs in the informal situations.
