The flag of the United Kingdom is called
‘the Union Jack’, or ‘the Union flag’.
The design, which has been
used since 1801, shows the
union of
St. George’s Cross (the English flag)
St. Andrew’s Cross (the Scottish flag)
St. Patrick’s Cross (the Irish flag)
Unfortunately, Wales is not represented in the flag, because
it had already been acquired by England at the time.
