SACHCC
Welcome
Greetings ,
What a difference five decades makes . As the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022 , it ’ s appropriate to look back at our history and celebrate the work our organization continues to do to foster business and economic growth in the Sacramento region . When I stepped into the role of CEO in 2014 , I knew that my mission to continue the SACHCC ’ s pressing work to promote and develop the growth of Hispanic-owned business in the region wasn ’ t going to be easy , but I was determined to continue the forward momentum the chamber had maintained since its founding in 1972 .
Our organization ’ s values of integrity , collaboration , diversity , leadership , excellence , passion and innovation can be seen in each and every one of our 550-plus members across all the industries our chamber represents . Advocating for our members and their economic success is a responsibility that we all take seriously and it ’ s our privilege to share their stories .
While I ’ m always proud of the advocacy work we do for our community , I ’ ve been especially proud of our dedicated and innovative staff as they ’ ve implemented our new # JuntosSacramento-TogetherSacramento programming to help our members and minority-owned businesses weather the pandemic . Thanks to a federal CARES grant in partnership with the City of Sacramento and the Sacramento Inclusive Economic Development Collaborative , SACHCC has rolled out updated website features , webinars about adapting to the COVID-19 business environment , one-on-one technical assistance , translation services and added more training programs on launching a new business and business recovery strategies to help our membership survive and thrive .
And because an organization is only as healthy and strong as the people it serves , we ’ ve made it a point to take time out to celebrate our membership with signature annual events like the Latina Estrella Awards , an event I founded in 2015 to recognize exceptional women who are leading the way in their professions , their businesses and their community .
It is our honor to shine a light on our Latino leadership , businesses and community who have and continue to make an impact in our region . I am proud to share with you our history , our present and our future in this special section .
Fifty years is a long time to do anything — and we ’ re just getting started .
Sincerely ,
Cathy Rodriguez Aguirre President & CEO Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
