CITY OF WHITE BEAR LAKE

The most significant project underway for 2022 in the City of White Bear Lake involves the White Bear Lake Area School District ’ s expansion and renovation project . By the end of 2022 , it is expected that updates will be complete at Birch Lake , Lakeaires , and Otter Lake Elementary Schools . In addition , a new elementary school is expected to be finished in time for the start of the 2022-2023 school year , and Phase 2 of the addition to the White Bear Lake Area High School ’ s South campus should be complete .
Also under construction in White Bear Lake , the final phase of the South Shore Boulevard reconstruction and trail project . Work will be done on the segment of the Lake Links Trail system that is between White Bear Avenue and East County Line , and South Shore Boulevard will be converted to an eastbound one way road from McKnight Road to East County Line Road .
GreenHalo Builds is under contract to purchase part of the former Rooney Farms property off County Road E . Plans call for the existing farmstead and out buildings to be retained on one parcel , and a new cul de sac to be constructed across from the intersection of Dell Street and Rooney Place . Eight new single family homes will eventually be built there .
There is also an expansion project planned for the public safety building behind City Hall . The project will feature renovations to the public safety building itself , along with the addition of a police garage , a fire department addition and an apparatus bay addition . “ Ground may be broken for the project as soon as Fall 2022 ,” said Lindy Crawford , City Manager for the City of White Bear Lake .
The top employers in the City of White Bear Lake include Century College , Walser Polar Chevrolet , Wilson Tool International and Taymark .
SHOREVIEW

Redevelopment and reinvestment is the focus for 2022 in Shoreview where a number of commercial properties that have sat vacant for years are now being developed , or redeveloped .
“ The focus is on redevelopment for some older sites ; reinvestment of our neighborhoods and older housing stock ; and we have created all sorts of housing programs to assist residents : there is funding available to help upgrade older homes , and to help younger families with down payment assistance on their first home ,” said Tom Simonson , Community Development Director and Assistant City
Manager for the City of Shoreview .
The City is also working with developers to bring more housing options to the city . “ We are working to create lifecycle housing opportunities so people who live here and want to downsize can remain in Shoreview . The City is also providing financial support towards a number of development projects to ensure there are affordable housing options to attract young professionals looking to move to Shoreview and be closer to where they work .”
Over the past several years , more than 1,100 apartment units have either been approved or built in the city , including Edison at Rice Creek , which offers 401 rental housing units — 300 apartments and 101 townhomes and carriage homes . The project , which is expected to be finished in early 2022 , is on the north end of town , just east of Interstate 35W between County Roads I and J .
Midland Terrace , located south of County Road E along Owasso Street , is an older 420-unit apartment complex undergoing redevelopment . A new 104- unit building will be completed in 2022 .
Emrik SV , the second phase of a nearly $ 90 million multi-family residential redevelopment project , just wrapped up in late 2021 . Between Emrik SV and
