WELCOME to WorldSBK
JORGE VIEGAS FIM PRESIDENT
Following a hugely dramatic 2024 season that saw Toprak Razgatlıoğlu finally regain the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship crown after finishing runner-up in 2022 and 2023 , this year the Turkish superstar will attempt to become just the fourth rider in the sport ’ s history to win three or more titles .
However , the twenty-eight-year-old will not be the only rider aiming to accomplish this rare feat and his Spanish rival Álvaro Bautista – Champion in 2022 and 2023 – will also be aiming to complete his hat-trick this season , although with a world-class field comprising riders from nine nations assembling to do battle neither rider can afford to rest on their laurels .
Getting under way in February at Australia ’ s Phillip Island , the twelve-round series will then return to Europe where it will be decided at eleven of the continent ’ s premier circuits , eventually signing off at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto in Spain in October .
On behalf of the FIM I would like to thank all who make the Championship possible including promoter Dorna WSBK Organization , the national federations and local organisers , FIM officials , the riders and teams , the manufacturers , volunteers , the media , all associated partners , sponsors and fans .
GREGORIO LAVILLA CHAMPIONSHIP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the first round of the 2025 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at the now traditional host venue of Phillip Island .
The start of another exciting WorldSBK season gives all of us a renewed sense of optimism and an ever-greater determination to provide another successful year of competition in the most prestigious production derived FIM World Championship of all .
After a major redesign of the 2024 Official Race Programme format we have taken an evolutionary approach in 2025 to make it as informative and entertaining as ever .
With the WorldSBK paddock featuring production derived machines in all our categories there is an ongoing requirement to ensure fair competition for all manufacturers and teams . To this end the FIM is introducing fuel flow controls for the WorldSBK class this season , after extensive testing in real race situations throughout 2024 . This will be the primary form of ‘ balancing rule ’ from now on .
WorldSSP has been rejuvenated to a remarkable degree since the first application of the ‘ Next Generation ’ regulations in 2022 . This new season will feature yet greater varieties of competing ‘ middleweight ’ machinery from seven different manufacturers .
Although the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship will not feature at the PI Round it will continue to be an important proving ground for ambitious young riders and new teams .
After a successful debut season for the unique FIM Women ’ s Circuit Racing World Championship in 2024 great anticipation is building for what will surely be an even stronger form of competition this year .
As ever , I offer my sincere thanks to all the competing manufacturers , teams and riders , plus our valued sponsors and partners , for continuing their close relationships with WorldSBK . An equally great level of thanks goes out to the respective National and Local Governments , the FIM , all the host venues , marshals , volunteers and support staff for these vital roles they play across each and every WorldSBK season .
